Peter J. Landis

Peter J. Landis (Retired) received a B.A. from Tufts University and a law degree from Northeastern University School of Law. He practiced immigration law for more than four decades before retiring in 2023. During his distinguished career, he taught immigration law at the University of Maine School of Law and was widely recognized for his contributions to the field of immigration law.

Throughout his career, Peter represented a diverse range of clients nationwide, including leading educational and research institutions, government entities, hospitals and other health care providers, as well as businesses ranging from small companies to large multinational corporations in the manufacturing, technology, and biotechnology sectors. His practice concentrated on employment- and business-related immigration matters.

Peter served as a member of the International Medical Graduates Task Force, which advocates for fair and reasonable laws that enable international medical graduates to practice medicine in the United States and help address physician shortages in medically underserved communities. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, a Maine nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income immigrants improve their legal status and promoting fair and humane immigration laws and policies.
